Transitioning to Spring

Spring is here, reminding us to celebrate the nourishing light of the sun as well as the light that lies within each of us. This is a season of awakening, growth, and renewal. A time to emerge from the inward time of winter, recharge, and stir up your energy to spring you forward and move you in the direction in which you want to go.

The changing of the seasons brings with it a shift of energy, which can cause feelings of balance and harmony, or even upheaval if there is a sense of path redirection.

As yogis, balance is something that we must cultivate on and off the mat. How we show up on our mat can be directly translated to how we show up in our lives. Our attitude, areas of resistance, acceptance, and how we face our challenges are all opportunities to take notice and witness our habitual patterns. We can set the intention of balance to help us to continue to meet ourselves and meet life with ease and equanimity, on and off the mat.

This season of growth and renewal is the perfect time for self-inquiry, and the practice of yoga gives us the opportunity to sit with ourselves during all of our seasons of life.

We can open up the energy of spring together, and embrace the light and wonder of the changing of the seasons with this 50-min yoga practice with Shelby.

Here are more practices to help cultivate balance as we emerge into spring

  1. Spend time outdoors

Nourish yourself with what the earth is naturally presenting to you. Go on a hike, plant a garden, put your feet on the grass. Get connected to mother nature in a way that feels good to you to help you nourish the seeds you have planted all winter long.

  1. Start a new practice

A new discipline will help you invite mindfulness into your life. A daily practice is an opportunity for you to have a break and spend valuable time with yourself during your normal daily routine. This is a gift to yourself – a promise to honor who you are. A spiritual practice such as yoga, meditation, or chi gong can go a long way!

  1. Spring cleaning

This is an essential practice of this season, as it is the perfect opportunity to shift the energy around us and streamline processes as well as flows of prosperity and abundance. Take time to get rid of anything in your home that you no longer use and is taking up space.
