10 Reasons Why We Love Belize

There are many places where you can go to experience an incredible yoga retreat. Fresh air, restorative activities and great company are the foundation of any nourishing getaway. However, some places are so special that they take you beyond a regular vacation or retreat.

Enter, Belize.

Shelby's magical yoga combined with the mystique of a private island in Belize are are a phenomenal combo. Here are ten reasons why we love Belize:

  1. English is the official language. No need to bring your translator.

  2. There are over 450 islands; one of which we will be on during the retreat. It is just a short boat ride from the mainland.

  3. The islands in Belize are called Cayes (pronounced “keys”). We’ll be on Thatch Caye, a private island with a maximum of 30 guests total.

  4. Belize is in the Central Standard Time zone, meaning you don’t need to worry about a time change or jet lag.

  5. Belize houses the second largest coral reef system in the world after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The Belize Barrier Reef is the largest living system in the world. You’ll have the opportunity to scuba or snorkel on this sought-after reef at your leisure.

  6. Belize is subtropical, with a mean annual temperature of 80 F. Perfect temperatures in January? Yes, please. Goodbye winter gloom, hello winter tan.

  7. More than 400 species of fish live in the waters of Belize’s 185-mile long Barrier Reef. Get your underwater go-pro ready.

  8. The island we’ll be on, Thatch Caye, is fully sustainable and considered an eco-lodge and Green Leader from Tripadvisor.

  9. Currently, Belize has .007% of total global COVID-19 cases. The government kept their international borders closed from March until October and it’s one of the safest places you can currently visit internationally.

  10. Muy’Ono, the Belizean resort and hospitality company that we partner with, makes every effort to ensure your accommodations exceed expectations. You will want for nothing, and every encounter with staff from greeting to send-off is genuine and warm.
